A complete and thorough review of your grade crossings and associated inventory records to bring all railroad records in compliance with FRA requirements.
The field review process involves joining track inspectors during normal inspections to have minimal impact on regular operations. Selected staff is interviewed to gain an understand of operations to ensure accurate information is provided to the FRA.
After all crossing and operation information is gathered, electronic submissions of US DOT Inventory Forms will begin. All appropriate records will be updated. The records of crossings which no longer exist will be marked accordingly. New records and DOT numbers will be assigned to new crossings. Any records that need to be transferred to or from other railroads will be changed to reflect the proper Primary Operating Railroad. A thorough review will take place.
Once the GCIS has been updated, the railroad will be in compliance with 49 CFR Subpart F, Highway-Rail and Pathway Crossing Inventory Reporting. Additionally, the railroad will receive a list of all records modified and a spreadsheet of all existing at-grade crossings for which the railroad is responsible.
